Space Rocker: The Novel
-
-By Michael Steenbergen-

The Flame.

There once was a flame so dim and faint.
That flickered in the vast void of space.
A flame that was kindled in the distant past.
With the birth of the human race.

A flame that burns with a glorious light.
Shining through the darkest night.
Spreading love and hope and hate.
Awaiting the judgment of fate.

To fade and die like a billion stars.
Spread across the heavens far.
Or to burn forever in the sky.
Eternal flame, eternal life.

-Little Feather: The Light Walker-
“Before Time there was the Island of Light. The Light Walker made Night so he could sleep and Time was born.” -The Golden Parchment of the Chapeck Aneal- 31,000 Years Before Current Era.
The sound of the airplane engine was strangely out of harmony with the natural symphony coming from the birds, animals and insects of the Peruvian Amazon. The lazy waters below the plane were slowly meandering through the lush green jungle of the river basin. It would be miles and miles before this tributary merged with the waters of the Amazon proper. There it would join with one fifth of the world’s fresh water to form a 3000 mile stretch of tropical diversity.

Rocker banked the small aircraft and blinked as the sun reflected off the slow moving water. His hands firmly gripped the steering column, and his feet kept a smooth flow of pressure on, and off, the pedals. He was feeling the excited euphoria of flying alone. Just “You, God and the Machine” he used to say in flight training.
Rocker’s current archeological survey specifically covered the Peruvian Amazon, an area of the famous jungle confined within the territory of Peru; from rder of Ecuador. Blue skies, fluffy white clouds a brilliantly colored sunset provided the right background for his short flight. A strong sense of spirituality swept over him, a sort of tingle or shiver up and down his spine. The feeling seemed to pass and he shook his head slightly, as if to clear it. Since arriving in L

r had been amazed at the biological diversiof the region. Bright colors of fur, feather, hide, skinand leaf assaulted his senses on every outing. Animals, birds, fish, plants, reptiles, insects and all of living creation seemed to be amplified in color, shape and sounds 10 to twenty fold compared to expeditions in other areas of the Earth.
